Day 10: Florence
... and the writer of the Divine Comedy. Come ON!! I geeked out a bit. Not to mention, the cathedral itself was stunning, as we the cloisters and courtyard outside. We headed back to the apartment and Mom cooked us a fantastic pot roast with potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, onions, and a salad. We enjoyed the delicious dinner around the large dining room table, sipped champagne, talked, laughed, and enjoyed the evening. Day 9: Florence
... rest of the group and all went into Santa Maria Novella, which was unbelievable. A 13-century church built on a 10-century cemetery and site, it housed original paintings on which Michelangelo worked, and stained glass windows, frescos, sculptures and tombs from the 11-16 centuries. Chianti for a Day
... barley. It was very good, but it seemed weird at first eating cold beans and corn. After that, they brought out a pasta dish made with penne and a red sauce. It was so delicious. During dinner, we tried two wines that they make there. The first was called Birillo and the second was called Le Corti. Both were Chianti Classico red wines. Superbowl, classes, and clean clothes!
... to the Uffizi museum for our art history class. We have a paper due Thursday and mine is over the painting Springtime by Borticelli.
We now finally have clean clothes to wear and our apartment looks like 5 giant closets exploded. Since apparently Italians don't use dryer machines, we are running out of place to hang dry all of our clothing.
