... government since the last real King of Italy abdicated in 1943. Silvio is king now, owns the largest private broadcasting companies and controls all the public ones. Soccer and game shows with big breasted women account for most of the TV programming. News is for Albanians.
The place can be so profound and so trivial. Piazza Navona, an oval laid out 2000 years ago as an arena, and occasionally flooded for battle re ...
... be? The first place I went to was fully booked. Visions of sleeping in the streets flash past my eyes, as I walk around the corner to another place. I take the last spot at the Yellow Hostel. As I sit and check in, lots of anxious travelers come in, hoping for a spot, and are turned away.
The mentality prevalent in my room was of the "my trip is better than yours" sort; everybody bragging about how long they've traveled for, and all the places they've seen ...
... by Simone and Guiseppi who took it over from Simone's grandparents. They have renovated the house and now run it as a B & B, as well as running the olive farm. They grow a small variety of green olives which make a rich fruity, sweet oil. We had a taste of the oil as well as local wine, cheese, ham and chutneys, all of which were available for sale. We returned to the ship via the Via Ahia which goes from the south to the north of Italy.
Civitavecchia, Lazio, Italy susanel... square full of locals in their sunday best. On one side, the local coffee shop with the oldies outside kortenshpielen. The other side of the square the ubiquitious Mr Whippy van and his sliced pork. Classic Fellini. Even though we'd had an enormous lunch we visited both sides of the square. As we were lounging about wondering what we were going to do tonight (Madona della Stella isn't exactly Lygon Street, even if both are full of Italians) we were sure of one ...
Madonna della stella, Italy umbriagang... class ended up getting out an hour early. It was totally unfair. We ended up only getting out about 20 minutes early. We then walked back to the hotel to change since it wasn't really that far away. We got ready, and went next door for lunch to the kebab shop. I got a chicken sandwich that had gyro sauce and hot sauce on it. It was actually pretty good. A big group of us took the subway to the Vatican together. We walked down and a ...

Once inside we were blow away by the decoration of each room, the ceilings mostly, as you walk through each ceiling has a number of individual paintings so no matter which way you look at the ceiling there are some that are upright to your line of vision. We tried to get through as quickly as possible so as not to miss the Sistine Chapel. We were so lucky as the Sistine Chapel was ...

the tour book and took a walk along Via Giulia. It's an old Rome street
which is like the widest at that time.
It's obviously so narrow for modern
standard. There're different interesting buildings on the street ( not
like that interesting actually). We passed a church decorated with some
skulls in the front. Also passed a very small ...
... It's a completely new experience for me and regardless of feeling a bit exhausted by it all from time to time, I really am loving every minute! Everyone on our trip gets along very well and we've been having a lot of fun together, we've found a few key places around Rome that are a lot fun and where they don't mind if you show up with a big group but we're always trying to discover new places too. There's no chance we'll ever see it all, but we're giving it our best try ...
Rome, Italy ajbauer... attractions of Piazza San Marco and The Rialto during our stay, the highlights of our trip mostly involved wandering through Dorsodurro with no real destination in mind. Our neigborhood Enoteca, "Gia Schiavi", was also a fantastic spot to grab a few glasses of excellent Italian wine and snack on cicchetti (bite sized Venitian sandwiches and snacks). While it was mellow during the day, the evening hours brought a sizeable crowd which inevitably spills out onto ...

So when "Miracle" came on the TV after dinner, I had to plug my headphones in across the aisle into this guy Nate's jack (he's from Santa Clara in Cali); but people kept tripping over the cord so I just gave up. So then I played poker with two girls from Loyola - Katie Jorgensen from Irish Club and April something or other and then two guys from Santa Clara ...
