... a hill the sight of The Basilica is astounding. The whole town is perched on the side of the hill. An incredibly old town with skinny, windy roads. The hotel is fabulous with great views from the room and public areas out side, down across the valley below. Free a quick check in we returned to the bus to have a guided tour of the old part of Assisi and the Basilica. It was a difficult walk up steep winding roads. Once inside more ...

Today we leave Amalfi and head to Venice for the last stretch of our holiday. Because the ferry is not running, we need to catch the 8:00 am from Amalfi to Salerno - 1 1/4 hours. It is the church visible from our room at the guest house. The piazza there has a lovely view out over the valley. Today there was a woman dressed as ...

... a HUGE coastal city and was a major ship building port at the peak of the Italian economy. There was a very cool church on top of the hill. After there we drove north to a coastal resort town where we ate at a restaurant called Bano. Most of the several miles long strip including large hotels were completely closed since Europeans typically only vacation June, July and August. The town is not easily accessed by tourist so ...

... It had a really cool town square and church at the top of the hill. There was a small fountain further down the main street that you are supposed to walk around 3 times for good luck. Of course we did! Enrico bought a lottery ticket right after that (and apparently the fountain thing did not work). We finished the day by having dinner at the country home to celebrate their family friend Adele turning ...
