Never heard of San Marino worth yet another drive

... lanes around to find ever more wonderful views, interesting shops eg... guns and rifles in all their glory!! (yep - off the shelf), palace, church and a huge race track where they do trials (we could hear them in the background). It was like a rabbit warren in a way, but going up instead of down.

We went for an early morning walk to see the sunrise the next day. It was magnificent!

A little time to relax in Rimini

... we were glad when we arrived in Rimini.

It rained the first few days we were here, but the past 2 days of sunshine have made up for it! Our hostel has great rooms but a really awful atmosphere, so we were so glad when the sun came out and we could spend all day at the beach, or in the town. Relaxing in the sun is just what we've needed! I'm still embarrassingly white though. I'd even call it offensively white. It's going to take more than 2 days of sun to bring me even to human ...

What a pleasant surprise Rimini was...

We got to Rimini later that night after Pompeii. It was another 6 hour drive so again we were exhausted. We checked into the hotel and it was perfect. Nicer than the last one we were at. We had booked in advance for the night and the rate was 30eros cheaper than the next night so we (I) thought we would just get there and tell them we wanted another night at the same price. Unfortunately they played me harder than I played them and said they had no availability ...

Pinocchio in Gubbio

The Italian language is both beautiful and humble:

- Companion comes from "con pan" meaning “with bread”. Tuscans consider their companions to be those they share their bread with therefore.

- Rosemary is “rosmarino” or “rose of the sea”.

A Trip to the beach

... in my life on one beach. There was even a beach shower at the waters edge (advising us not to use shampo (their spelling not mine).

The water temp was cooler than in Sicily but still pleasant enough. by this time the sun had disappeared behind rain clouds. We headed back into town for coffee & shopping. Mandy found a ring but didn't buy it. I think she regretted it as for the next few days she wanted to head back to Fano.

Day trip to Urbino

We left for Urbino after breakfast for a quick trip (Birth place of Raffaello - painter) of course coffee & gelati was part of our plans with some sights thrown in.

Nice place and worth the trip. No time to view the museo a bit of a shame as there is a section with Rafael.

We had some great views going over the mountains going to/from Urbino. Mandy is handling driving the larger car just fine.

Yoga Retreat

... The best of all is a large pool to lazy around after Yoga and eating, what a life, the weather was fantastic during the week, high 20's

I think I did too much on the first day of yoga as I couldn't back up on the Tuesday (lucky to get out of bed) but once moving I did both afternoon sessions (playground) breathing in the afternoon and then meditation after dinner.

Wednesday afternoon is free time so we are planning on a trim to the coast Fano

Rossi Fans 'R' us and classic italian BIKE museum

... the track prices were so high for the gear and we got it for joining the fan club. From here we went to the town of Rimini and tried to find the Italian National motorcycle Museum. The GPS had us in the area but we couldn’t find it , even asking around was fruitless so we drove around the local airport side road amongst farm houses and came upon it tucked up a side road with very little signage. The man was heading out for lunch but also told us ...

Communist Food in the Shadow of a Palazzo

... Studiolo, in which all the walls are covered with intricate inlayed wood that uses false perspective to create landscapes and shelves that seem to hold Federico's prized possessions. There were many other touches we hadn't seen elsewhere, like a marble carving around a great door that depicts warring Putti complete with little helmets on. Another bonus was the lack of a crowd, giving you time to enjoy the architecture and artwork. After visiting Gabe's ...

... of a breeze above the cliff beside the Rocca. All she had achieved was to rip the seat out of her slacks when sitting on a tree stump. Breezy! Home to Frontino. We had a rest for several hours and then joined Federica and Antonio in their "cantina". Antonio is a sommelier and extremely proud of the developing quality of the local wines. Whenever I asked about wines from other parts of Marche, he responded that he rarely drank them. He believes that the only way to improve the ...
