We made a stop at some ruins before heading to the Knights of Malta church where we saw an amazing view through the keyhole of the church. It was a great way to start our day. The next stop was just next door at San Sabina Basilica which was built in 422 AD.

What a big day today, probably the highlights of our trip. We docked at Ciivitavechia at around 6am. This is the harbour gateway that serves Rome. We had booked one of the ship's excursions to Rome, it covers a tour through the colosseum, a visit to the Vatican museums, a visit to the St Peter's basilica and a visit to the Sistine Chapel. We had a big and very exciting day. The ship docked at Civitavecchia, the main port for Rome, a bit over an hour away by bus. It was a 7.15am start and we were all ready to go, but held up our bus as Terry had to go back to the cabin to charge into long trousers, as per instruction on our ticket. No bare knees in St Peter's, of either gender.

... into Civitavecchia where we intend shopping and investigating the cost to ship our excess luggage via ship back home. Whilst it is drizzly it is not too cold and OK conditions for the girls to shop and David to stand outside waiting!. Located a local food market mid morning and purchased a 1/2 kilo of delicious strawberries for about 2 euros ($3 )
