It's a very large 3 story house that's been converted to a hostel, but completely maintains the feel of a big old house. The setting really promoted the mingling of the people in the hostel, which was great because it was a pretty diverse crowd.

... are. The distilleries were surprisingly accessible, with all of them offering tours of the caves and tastings, for a fee of course. We were only able to visit a couple (Porto seems to close for 2 hours during lunch) before catching our evening flight out, but we are glad to have tried some new and very interesting kinds of port. We drove through the rain and Jessica (sat nav) took us up into the mountains. When she wanted us to do a sharp hairpin bend that was impossible with the caravan we had to carry on to a dead end in the road.
