... is only 10km away. We picked up 2 more people from the holiday park and then zooted out of town, over the Motueka River and past several apple orchards, hops fields and some orange trees too. I also suspect we passed some kiwi vines too. The Sea Shuttle dude on board the bus gave us some running commentary, plus some light hearted jokes etc, which was nice. ... for the route back, but I hadn't accounted for the low cloud.  Disappearing into white mist while going up and round hairpin bends was quite challenging in a van. I stopped at a sign near the top that said good coffee - it was also where the Ngarua caves were and I fancied a look.  I had just missed the last tour by 10 mins.  When I say just missed, I don't think it actually happened, as there was no one else up there up. ...

... sunny and having checked the weather forecast I decided to ask Dylan about the possibility of doing a skydive the following morning. We weren't scheduled to leave until midday so he called Skydive Abel Tasman and passed me the phone. I only had to tell them my name and that was it, booked!

Tomorrow morning at 9:30am I'd be getting picked up to jump from the highest altitude in New Zealand, 16,500ft over the Abel Tasman National park where I'd even be able to ...

... and as the rain reared its head again, the ‘views’ over the Takaka Mountain were of nothing but thick grey cloud and fog. Not to be outdone by the weather, we decided to take the trip down the 10km gravel road (they love those in New Zealand!) to Canaan Downs and Harwood's Hole, an enormous sink hole 50m wide and 180m deep.

On the drive down to Canaan Downs we passed one of the set locations for Lord of the Rings, and the forest ...
