... Slowly cruising down the canals, we soon headed out into a larger open water inland sea, and criss-crossed the lake with other water-craft. Had a nap on the upper deck, played some cards - did nothing all afternoon (nice!!).

From there we had an incredibly early morning to catch our 6.30am train to Alleppey so, strike trains off the list of travel challenges. They run incredibly smoothly actually, we were directed where to stand on the platform for our specific car (can't see south west trains pulling that off!!)
When we arrived we were met by a very lovely Sunjit, who owns 3 house boats (armadilo boats) and we spent 1.5 days of the most relaxing ...

... that order. A strict regimen, but one we found quite manageable, all things considered. We mixed it up every now and again by taking a picture, having a nap or even eating an authentic Keralan meal (a bowl of vegetable curry may not make us Anthony Bourdain just yet but still…) And don’t even get us started on the all-you-can-eat bananas…
Getting a firsthand glimpse of life on the river was remarkably fascinating as well – seeing people from all walks ...

Did you know that the sound of wet clothes being beaten against rock sounds like a gun shot? though in Kerala even that sound soon merges into the peacefull serenity that surrounds the whole state.
Bathed in sunshine Mel and i took it in terms to paddle home. This was after Mel had made Coya(rope) from a coconut husk. We settled up and jumped the bus to the Ashram.
