the killer catfish is on the scene...
the finger throbs on....
we arrived at the lake!!!! greeted by chickens...
out of the channel, into the Madre de Dios
headed out of camp...to the river to fish
see all the parrots on the clay bank?
headed upriver to find the parrots on the colpa...
a leaf cutter ant on the trail....
if you can't walk out, these guys will push you...
walking on water....
the streak of dark up the tree is a line of bats..
the boat weaves its way thru the murky waters
back thru the mud and finally...the boat !!!
the spirit of the termite nest..
Frankie just enjoys the quiet...until....
parrots high in the trees...
retreating back to the boat...the waters too deep.
the water gets deeper...over the boots?
only a 1 out of 3 chance for the caimans....
beauty in the mud...
Lola waited at the camp...
getting the boat unstuck...
making my way along the trail...
my double stick effort to get thru the mud...
the only caiman we saw !!
Frankie and the buttress roots...
the birds are awake...
these sinks are made from the ironwood tree....
cooler, well fed...now we got to hike back???
Frankie is worn out...
animal climbing tree...
pristine Sandoval Lake...
a little of everything..eggs, chicken, always rice
paddling us back with fish in tow...
and a banana leaf lunch...
entering Sandoval Lake...a multi NGO effort
a kitten for our friend from France...
me and Frankie, fishing at peace...
i like to think of these as parrot nose plants...
ornamental ginger....
so did Pepe...as brillliant as ever...
Carlitos....a high spirited guide....
back to camp....still breathing....
Corto-Maltese jungle home...
past a fisherman setting his nets...
halfway there...
headed out to Monkey Island...
Pepe and Pedro shake their tailfeathers....
and we're back to camp...
rapid decomposition...ants everywhere...
fuits high in estrogen..medicinal...men avoid them
boots go SCHOLCK everytime you pull them out...
Pepe checking in...
and Lola keeps smiling...
