... serving bid meals. No good when you arson a bike with about 30km to go. Annette checked at a cafe - yes, we have hot sandwiches. In we went as we were in need of a cold drink and some Tucker. I was tempted by the listing corn chips with salsa and cheese alone with an iced coffee. Annette selected the water with gas and a hot sandwich.

Day 7

We were up and on the road by 8am today. Todays ride is one of the longest of the tour.

The rain had disappeared and we were left with an overcast and cool day.

The first part of the ride was very pretty as we climbed the mountains then descended again to wander between farmland and small villages.

Lake Balaton was just what we needed- a beautiful, laid back, vacation spot for Central Europeans! It was so nice to come to a small town where there were little to no tourists, finally. We had no plans, no must visit historical sites, which was a relief so we headed down to Libás Strand, a cute little spot right on the lake with a few small snack stands. ... really chuffed and surprisingly undamaged, considering the lack of recent riding. The only blip was Joan suffered from horrid, streaming hay fever. “Snot en trane” – lelik!

There was gorgeous sunshine after the storm! We moved Bo from the carpark to the lake side and enjoyed a sundowner on the shore. While there, we were well entertained by some fisherman, who had obviously had a long a busy day.
