... and was met by a monkey sat at my head height it gave me a bit of a scare! I didn't really realise quite how free to roam about they would be! The main attraction of the park is the onsen(hot water caused by volcanic activity) which the snow monkeys use to keep themselves warm during the harsh winters in Northern Japan. Apparently it is the only place in the world where monkeys are known to do this, and is subsequently often seen ...

... That whole meal cost 610yen (AUD$6.70) between the both of us. So far, this is the cheapest meal that we have had short of the odd sandwich or so. Unfortunately, we had to stop at a supermarket and ended up with yet another box of chocolates and a packet of the mochi dessert. Hopefully, all the walking that we have been doing will negate what we are eating.

Back to the hotel for more laundry and blogging.

It had rained quite heavily during the night and was still raining. There was no news to say that the train was cancelled, so we ant ahead. Luckily, the carriages were covered. The view was different in the rain and the water was no longer turquoise but brown. The leaves were turning golden, even from yesterday. There was a lot more water in the river and there were a lot more waterfalls.

Because of the rain, we ...

... Robert was almost decapitated by the train doors on the way up. He thought that the train would stop for a few minutes and stuck his head out. The doors closed suddenly and luckily for him, his reflexes were slightly quicker than his wit. We couldn't help but laugh. I guess the situation would be different if he really did get hurt.
