... now it was dark so we wrapped up very warmly and joined the rest of the people in the town in viewing the castle & blossoms by floodlight. Being Saturday evening it was extremely busy but everyone is very polite and considerate so there is no pushing and shoving which makes it very pleasant. ... the lead from the locals. It was pretty cold so we decided to come back tomorrow when a fine evening is forecast. We watched our bed mats being expertly laid on the dot of 7pm. Nia is happy to have her own room again. A restaurant a few doors down was highly recommended and we had an excellent meal of Japanese style breaded pork fillet. Monday was our last day in Japan. We were flying out till later that evening so we had the morning in town then caught the bus and shinkansen back to Tokyo. We dropped our bags off at Tokyo station and walked around Ueno and Ginza before we caught the Narita express out to the airport and onto our flight home. Thursday - April 2nd

The nice thing about the rain on Wednesday was that it turned into 5-10 cms of fresh snow overnight! We caught the first gondola up in the morning and enjoyed the fresh snow on Yamabiko all morning with the sun out. It was glorious spring skiiing - fresh snow and 8 degrees! ... presented breakfasts we have ever had (food tasted great as well!). We really didn’t want to leave after being pampered so throughly during our stay.

Next we caught the brand new (just started operation on March 14th!) Hokuriku Shinkansen to Nagano. Being a new route, even the locals were taking pictures in front of the new train prior to boarding.
