... drink it to use all the flavours. We also had some steamed radish and pickled greens which were served first. Gee lucky we had done some activity because it was a huge meal and only about $17 per person. After being home a bit, we needed to go for a walk due to still being massively full from lunch. We got dropped into town for a wander but cut it short a bit cos the drizzle began and then turned to snows. I'm lying in our warm room and have ...

... the yummiest udon's I have ever had. Scott had udon with garlic and cheese, a local speciality for the alps. After lunch we were dropped at the ski gondola to go up the mountain for a view of the area. It was a lovely cloudless day so a good chance to do this as the weather is forecast to come in nasty in the next few days. For dinner we went back into town for 2 young teachers ...

... potato which is one of the most delicious things I have eaten. It made us so hot sitting there eating hot food but was nice to thaw out. The walk back down into town was lovely, it was a nice downhill track that took us through little back streets past cute shops and houses. We were trying to find the sake brewery but it is never easy to find places as they don't signpost in English even in touristy areas and we found ourselves ...

... stops and pretty easy to navigate. Ueno station was huge and we finally found the right ticket office to get out pass from. After this we went and got some food to take on the train for lunch. There was a place which had lots of choices so we got a mix, some gyoza, some rice with beans and some yakkitori chicken skewers. It was all lovingly wrapped in tons of plastic for the bin! The train journey itself was lovely, nice comfy seats, great view of the snowy hills beyond. It ...
