... they are used to people and just walk right near you. A treat was seeing 2 of the young ones swimming and playing in the pool, just like little kids. They swim under water and squabble just like human kids. They spend a lot of time grooming each other. We could have stayed all day as they were so entertaining. How do monkeys turn adults into smiling idiots? Took trillions of photos of course. Next stop was the lovely traditional town ...

... Walked down to Shibu onsen. People walking from bath to bath wearing Yukata and Japanese shoes. Finally made it back to the ryokan. Put on our Yukata and shoes and walked to a nearby onsen. It was very hot, could only put legs in, Philip squirted cold water on us to help . Went for dinner , then back to the ryokan. Tatami and futons, tiny rice filled pillows. ... The parade is accompanied by musicians in traditional Japanese costumes, quite an interesting and colorful event. The elephant made of paper is very large and being pulled by the boys with help of adults. We watch them parade around the Yubatake and go up the old, stone staircase to the Temple. We take a closer look at the Yubatake where the water gushes down day in day out, 4.000 liters of hot water per minute!
