First stop in Hokkaido
... tunnel in the world. At it's deepest point we had 100 meters of earth and 140 meters of sea above us - a true japanese engineering marvel!
Hakodate is a pleasant harbour town where we just strolled through the cobblestoned streets and visited the fantastic Seafood market the next morning. There we got to see huge crabs, bizarre sea creatures and just lots of yummy sushi-to-be. ...

The main attraction here is the night view atop Hakodate Mt. I had dinner very early, at 5 pm so that we could go up before dusk. Unfortunately, most groups shared the same mentality. So it's just incredibly crowded. The proverb 'people mountain people sea' depicts the scene nicely. All you could see are heads of people. Hakodate: Ika, Ika, Ika Odori!
