... van de Maeda clan woonden, te bezoeken spring ik nog even binnen in, hoe kan het anders, de lokale tempel en het doburoku festival museum. Dit museum staat ter ere van het sake festival dat ieder jaar gehouden wordt wanneer er een nieuwe lading sake gebrouwen is. ... Miyajima was a delightful surprise.

I wouldn't take anything in exchange for the ryokan experience -- the room with a delightful view and tatami mats and futons, the yukatas, the private dining, and the communal bathing in a natural hot spring. It was the perfect way to end our time in this remarkable country.

I look forward to many more happy travels with my sister.

... ones recognizable as an American breakfast were soft boiled eggs, small sausages, fruit, and yogurt. I've learned to like miso soup for breakfast, but can't get used to salad, pickled vegetables, and stewed meats for a morning meal.

We took a taxi back to Aizu Castle so that we could re-visit the gift shop. In the two days since we were there, the cherry trees had gone from being in bud to full blossom. They were simply gorgeous!

... with sukiyaki sauce. We each had a bowl of rice and a raw egg we could beat with our chop sticks and pour over the whole concoction. Delicious! Perfect meal for a night in after a cold, windy day.

We stayed snuggled under the kotaksu and finished the evening with a game of Skip-Bo. (Yeah! I won!) and a couple of episodes of sit-coms Brent had downloaded from the Internet. It was an early-to-bed ...
