    ... in a shop front, amazing French bread and pastry shop, and all sorts of specialist crafts such as custom made chopsticks. The streetscaping is also beautifully done. Best of all it was not crowded. The temple area was worth a look. I did the cleansing ritual again, burnt incense and rubbed the Buddha to try and find a miracle cure for my upper respiratory infection. Anything is worth trying at this stage!     Today we take a bus into the mountains to visit the Snow monkeys. The monkeys live near a hot spring and will sit in the hot springs right through winter to keep warm. The bus ride is 1 hour and has some stunning views. You have to walk 1.5ks through a beautiful forest to get to the entrance of monkey park. Now as the snow is melting the path is very wet and muddy.

    The hotel at the airport was, well an airport hotel so not much write home about… but Japan on the other hand…

    Can’t wait to chat to our Japanese friends back at JSK to explain what a country they’ve got.
