... in Spain was the mix of languages that we encountered. Catalan is influenced by both French and Spanish, so I had a lot of fun reading the various signs and trying to understand the locals. If I had room to learn a language for fun, it would definitely be Catalan. Because of the Arabic influences in the regions, there's also quite a few Arabic speakers who live there. So we were able to practice all three languages, sometimes all at the same time!

Barcelona Airport is a major hub of European travel. Cheap flights at $50 euros return can be found. Terminal shuttles are quick and one metro train form T2B will have visitors City central within 45 minutes. Using a combination of Trip Advisor and Hostel Bookers online helps us select Fabrizzios Petit Palace. Great place with private rooms.
