Today we visited the UNESCO town of Telc. Pronounced Telch like belch. Un untouched 16th. century town.

Had a limited castle tour as they are filming the movie "Emperor". Barbara auditioned for a solo and got the part!! Only problem, we can't be here for the rest of the filming.

... good to be out and walking.

We arrived back in town, had lunch, and went to find the synagogue in town. The building was open, so we went in, and found a lovey sanctuary and a little museum which gave the history of the family who started the synagogue. The museum was small, but very engaging and informative. Now the building is used for concerts.

... a positive result of their dominance. Set among the trees, the whole outdoor theater revolves during performances. Unique! I could see Midsummer Night's Dream being performed to great effect.

We headed back in time, past the second part of the complex and were ready to enter the next phase, but were stopped by a closed gate and security guards. The castle was closed for 4 days ...

... about 45 minutes from the train station to the bus station, then followed the directions another 20 minutes to get to the hostel. Needless to say, we were pretty tired of walking and carrying our backpacks by the time we arrived. Unfortunately, our hostel owner seemed to think of Easter as a time to lay on the river and get trashed, so we had to wait for 3 hours for our room to be ready. We decided to leave our packs in the hostel office ...

... the end of our journey, we hauled the raft onto the shore & waited for the bus to pick us back up to take us back to Pavel's car - our ride home. Once home again, we had stew for supper, I watched Mr. & Mrs. Smith, we had a snack of cheeses, bread, a kind of jerky, green olives, oil-soaked dried tomatoes, & grapefruit juice, while watching a Czech movie called Kvaska.
