Lake Balaton was just what we needed- a beautiful, laid back, vacation spot for Central Europeans! It was so nice to come to a small town where there were little to no tourists, finally. We had no plans, no must visit historical sites, which was a relief so we headed down to Libás Strand, a cute little spot right on the lake with a few small snack stands. ... lunch and rests in various scenic spots. One of them we watched a water snake with a head the size of a teaspoon, grapple with its dinner- a fish the size of a tablespoon. Eventually the fish escaped. There are lots of snakes in the water – we assume they are harmless as they are in bathing areas.

Overall it was a lot of fun, but we were all exhausted when we finally got out (we did in fact use most of our three hour pass, fortunately only admission closes at 5pm - still winter hours).
