      ... a bit like a very smart horses stable. The good was plentiful is not always to our tastes. I was able to eat a lot of it but couldn't manage the mushrooms or the pickled brains, I really enjoyed the pork cooked in broth and sashimi though. Arriving back in our room someone had been in and pushed the table out of the way and in its place were 2 futons fully made up and ready for us to collapse into for a very relaxed and undisturbed ...

      ... the onsen. It really was a brilliant experience and well worth the 3300yen (roughly £20) I had paid to get there and the drenching I had got on the way. On the coach journey back the sky had cleared up slightly, allowing for full views of the impressive mountainous scenery and orchard fields that surround the basin in which Nagano sits.       ... walk through the winter walk where workers have to walk for 20km for 6 hours. There was a monkey sitting on the top of the stairs so it became a choice of whether we wanted a photo of the monkey or that of a train going over the red bridge. In the end, the train on the bridge won out.
