      ... However, ...

The snow monkeys were amazing! They have no fear of tourists, despite insinuations of their ferociousness. You can walk right up to many of them without them scampering away. We were surprised by how many baby monkeys there were — dozens! Although we were only in their area for about an hour, we witnessed many moments, including one of the older monkeys holding a younger one for warmth, several of the younger monkeys playing together, all ...

The skiing was great and although ...

For the last day we decided we had to travel up the valley to Happo, site of the 1998 Japanese Winter Olympics. The day was absolutely perfect and one of the best days skiing I've done with perfect skiing conditions. We met with Adam and warmed up on the green runs and the bottom before headed up the mountain. We did a few green runs before finally getting to the top. There was ...

... a good Japanese lunch and then back off with just us to the top of the mountain and after a few runs, again back down the mountain. Thomas found that he loves moguls so on the really steep slope at the bottom he literally pointed his skis straight down and bounced over each mogul. Absolutely no idea how he stayed up but he now wants to only ski moguls. Isabel took a more leisurely route ...
