... coming in lower and greyer and just as we got in the van it started to rain a bit. For lunch we went to a local place and had an absolute feast. Home made soba which were cold, you dip into a soy type sauce with shallots and wasabi and slurp them up, fried marinated tofu, tempura vegies and dipping sauce as well as some nasty little fishy things which I tried then gave away. One of the views we got looking back over a valley is one of Japan's most famous views and very pretty with ...

The walk in was lovely, a tiny bit slippery in some parts but very pretty through the forest. After paying 500Y we walked around the river and there they were. The first ones we spotted were sitting in the snow by the river and a few were running around. Then we got into the section where the hot water ...

It is annoying when phones don't change to the local time and the alarm goes off at 5. Oh well, I managed to snooze a little bit after that. We ventured out into the the morning 5* sunshine to find something to line our tummies. There were lots of eating places last night around the train station so we headed back that way. There were lots of choices but quite popular was a small cafe which had ham and egg toasted sandwiches, tea and coffee. We grabbed one of those which ...
