Bad Ischl was a charming resort town, which had welcomed the Austrian royalties for hundreds of years. Now it's popular with skiers in winter and hikers in summer. I arrived in Bad Ischl in the early afternoon, and decided to make the most ...

... On Sunday morning, the town was filled with people in their traditional dress for a communion ceremony. They looked fabulous.

We set sail for Vienna in the late morning, passing through stunning valleys and seeing the peaks of the imposing Italian Dolomites in the distance. We stopped for lunch and a freshen up at Wothersee, an alpine lake which is a popular holiday spot for wealthy Europeans before completing our scenic loop back in Vienna.
