Today we went to a mountain area nearby to visit a waterfall and see (along with many other buses of Japanese tourists) the koyo, the wonderful shades of yellows, oranges, and reds that the trees have right now! The colours are so strong and varied that it is a really beautiful sight.

... Japanese lunch with our hosts, and on our way back we saw an animal on the road: at first I thought it was a dog, but as we got closer and it jumped ahead of us, we realised it was a monkey!!! ... br> In the guide book it says there were many shojin ryori restaturants near the Zenkoji temple so we headed there. It was dark and we almost needed fleeces! Up at the Temple, we couldn't see any Buddhist restaurants, but there were plenty of temples. The noise of the crickets was amazing.
