... near the University where Ildiko has been studying Hungarian. Got to the museum just in time to see lovely paintings and a film on the putzas. After dropping Ildiko at the station, we found our hotel after several trips around a block and through an archway to a bank!

... pension is. We follow him very gratefully to the Pension Fontana, a simple but clean 'pensuela' which serves us a very adequate Italian sups. It's in the old part of the town which consists of one main square and a few churches with other buildings around it. The newer part of the town is uninspiring, depressing, industrialized and shabby, reflecting its communist past as a mining and smelting centre. ... it was!) because there was no wind & we were moving most of the time. It was well worth the visit, with spectacular ice stalagmites & 'tites.
Onwards through more spectacular scenery (Slovakia is definately a place to revisit) we made our way to Hungary. We followed some lorries over a very bumpy level crossing, and through the (now defunct) border post, which looked like bandits should appear from any minute.

Hungary's money is forint, and we didn't have any, ...
