... last nights. Again, 7 servings that included Japanese beef and vegetables served "sukiyaki style". Raw meat and veggies are in a bowl on top of a clay pot that gets heated to boil. The meat gets cooked in just a few minutes…so good! We also had a serving of sashimi that included tuna, crabmeat and sea bream. Many in our group won’t eat raw fish, so the rest of us ate the leftovers!

... and we drive to station 5, which is at 7K feet. Cars are not allowed beyond station 5 so to get to the summit at just over 12K feet, you have to climb it. Climbing is only allowed in July and August and most people climb during the nighttime to get to the summit to enjoy the sunrise.

... therefore extremely relieved! We went for the cultural option and reserved a Japanese tatami mat room, complete with futons and sliding screens. As many of you have probably seen from facebook, Gabe fully embraced tradition as he swaggered round the hotel rocking the Yukata robes. ... grounds is prohibited, but the East gardens of the Imperial complex is open to the public, so we made the most of this. The gardens are picturesque in all the ways you`d expect of a Japanese garden: calm, with a small waterfall flowing into a pool of brightly coloured carp. All this with Tokyo`s impressive urban centre towering in the background, you get a real sense of Japan present and past wandering in the gardens.
