... Railway Tavern". It was a sign for a break! Happy Hour had just started! We stopped there for a drink and some appetizers. Again, for the appetizers, it was pointing, as this time no English was understood. Ultimately, we got our fries, and something else I thought was chicken wings, but turned out not to be. Don't know what we ate, but it was good! Next Station: Ikebukuro. This area has many department stores as well (one out each major exit!) and good ...
Tokyo, Japan banila... or pose for photos...definitely a bit surreal...and only in Japan! We forgot to mention that we spent the night in capsules at a capsule hotel! Quite the experience, though one we probably won't repeat. The capsules themselves were actually quite spacious, and included tv/radio/alarm, but the beds were pretty hard to lay on, and people outside could be rather noisy...Happy to have tried it though!
Tokyo, Japan fisebI want to start my blog by reminscing on my first trip abroad some 19 years back. Yes, I was just 12 years old then. It was the summer before I entered high school. My sister who's based in Japan just gave birth a few months earlier and my Dad and I visited their family, especially my adorable niece who looked like a Japanese doll. We landed in Tokyo in the evening and we ...
Tokyo, Japan the_traveller... stories, but no games to watch until April 21 and 22. Four teams will square off in the semis and then the title game. It's too tightly packed for my liking. Hopefully a best-of-three, five- or seven-format gets adapted in future years. But two days of playoff hoops ... are not something to complain about. I'll enjoy it. Just like the chance, at 3 a.m., to see Daisuke Matsuzaka's first MLB game last week live on Japanese TV.
Kamata, Ota-ku, Tokyo, Japan odevened... of it was, well, to say the least, weird - usually all within the same meal. One night, a fellow co-worker Bruce joined us for dinner. Bruce lived in Japan for a few years and is fluent in Japanese. This was most helpful; it made for a much easier night than our previous night's excursion in Yokohama. He took us out to an authentic, local Japanese restaurant. No food models, you take your shoes off before entering, etc. - the real deal. And Bruce was able to order a great ...
Tokyo, Japan waltmeier... an hour we head to a super club called Vanilla. I haven't slept in soo long. But I like the place. Its busy, they sing along to the lyrics while dancing. The dance floors fun, jump in spin around and get pushed back out by the crowd. Anyway, danced the night away and got the metro back...when it opened the next morning at 5am. I lost Brendan, maybe Ill find him again tomorrow. I need to sleep.
Tokyo, Japan ahardy... but also Japanese takes on European styles, such as Monet looking paintings of Japanese landscapes, by Japanese artists. There were also different mediums, as artworks were not only the conventional canvas and sculpture, but also on Japanese partition boards and also long scrolls. With the rain coming down we returned to our hotel in the north of Tokyo, to plan and prepare for the next day, as well as continue to catch up on our sleep. Waking at a good time, we found ourselves ...
