... on the property), our slick guide came to tell us that 4 slots had opened up for the Art Museum tour (yea, right), so we went on the tour. The art installations consisted of various rooms with static, colored patterns of light projected on the walls. We were told to contemplate the patterns and feel the color emotions. I wasn't too impressed with the artwork, but I was impressed with the artist's ability to wring large amounts of money from a billionaire for some light projections ...

... the species alive and supply zoos. We paid a few pesos to view then in their fenced areas, and Rita managed to get a few of the larger males into an argument over the greens she held over the fence. We observed that they do battle by hissing. spitting and locking their long necks together.

Our visit complete, we traversed the one-lane bridge once more and headed up an even more crude, bumpy and dead-end dirt road to our next destination.

... the same Hess as in Napa Valley). A Swiss billionare who bought the land and the winery about 15 years ago from the same family that owned Bodega Taquíl up the road. He has since pumped several million into creating a state-of-the-art winery, restaurant, and boutique hotel. He also built a museum to house a number of interactive light/illusion art installations ...

... with lush, almost jungle-like forests covering steep mountainsides and meandering rivers. As we ascended the main river canyon the climate started to dry out exposing the bare multi-colored rocks beneath. Then cactus started to appear as we inched closer to the cloud ceiling that was hanging over the pass we had to get over. The road turned to gravel and became steep and twisty .... little roadside chapels ominously marking the places where folks had died ...

... a headache but that was manageable with panadol. (Still not sure how I am going to fare in the high altitudes of Bolivia). Cachi has cobblestone streets and beautiful spanish colonial architecture.

We ate lunch at a local grill where you will see from the photos that they cook the food on site in front of you. Wasn't too sure about the big slap of meat hanging ...
