... sandwiches (smorrebrod) on rye bread. Particularly served with a seafood topping. I can eat those. It is also a big university town with 20% of residents being students. Today was obviously the start of a university break as a large truck of very loud students dressed as sailors, swigging beers and singing were riding around the streets. While in Sweden we saw a similar end of year celebration. It was harmless fun which appears ...

After a good braai we climbed into bed for a well-deserved rest. At 2.30am I was awoken by the call of nature. On looking outside I saw that the sky was still light and in fact looked like a sunrise or sunset in progress. One could see quite clearly even though there was no moon. A fund day trip up and back to Alborg to see our colleague Paola, it was well, BLOODY COLD this morning, with the front of one train covered in snow, but jsut remained wet and cold.

Walked around in the rain with Paola and her husband, and then had a REALLY lunch, and even more art. ...

... said that this would be a good place to continue towards Karlsruhe as this is the connecting road between Stuttgart, Heilbronn and Karlsruhe.

It had been a long day and wanted to find a place to put up our tent and sleep. The first night of the trip we slept next to a corn field, hoping that the farmer would not come and yell at us in the morning. The sky was clear and stars were bright - it was nice!

... that we went to, and I had a Murphy's Stout. Apparently Auqavit, Danish schnapps, is produced in Ålborg, but we weren’t able to find any. We sat around and played Uno and ate British crisps for a while. It was really nice to relax and I was thankful I had friends to hang out and have a drink with. We had to head in early for the night though since we had an early flight. I did some writing and went to bed by midnight.
