... It is a temple of Sukyo Mahikari, a new japanese religion that wants the people to find true peace by understanding the universal principles in all aspects of life. Unfortunately there was a ceremony and we could not visit this temple, so we had to walk all the way back (we have walked quite a bit, always thinking that the building was near..) and finally headed towards the Hida Folk Village again. I met Koji, whilst having dinner in a restaurant. We decided to do a road trip to Kamikochi and the sightseeing spots around the highlands.

We finished the day off, by soaking in an outdoor hot spring. What more can you want!?! :)

The town has a beautiful old town and many lovely temples (with awesome picture opportunities). I did two day trips, one on top of a mountain with a cable car and another one ...

... difficult to find the magnificent blue castle; it is perched atop a small hill which overlooks all the city. We were fairly spellbound by the beauty of it, and found that it rivaled (or perhaps even beat) the famous castle in Himeji. What I appreciate most about Japanese architecture is the precision and attention to detail; the beautiful rooftops and perfectly placed shingles and adornments are worth studying during your visit. The blue beauty stands tall ...
