    ... back to the main Beppu station. It seems the easiest way ( and I use that term loosely) is to get a taxi. Well after showing the taxi driver the map and where we want to go he says 'ahhhhhh Lopeway' so we confidently know we are on the same page. ¥2000 later we are at the Ropeway station and after the staff making sure we understand that we are not going to see much because it's so cloudy, we pay our money and go anyway.     ... an effort to regain my composure and not gape at them like a fish out of water, I turned around and read the onsen rules.

    1. No photography anywhere past the locker room curtains.
    2. Wash yourself before entering the onsen.
    3. Towels and bathing suits are not allowed inside the pools unless it's the small towel for your hair.

    ... I chose a cafe near the metro and I waited patiently for my directions. I had plenty of time since my ticket for Kumamoto was an unreserved seat, which means I could hop on whenever I wanted.
