Today was the turn of theme park FujiQ Highland, it seems like every day I wan't to do something cultural or educational it buckets with rain and we scuttle back to hotels and the days we do theme parks are beautiful! Anyway I can't complain about the weather today, it was lovely, a bit chilly because of the altitude especially in the evening after a couple of water rides but other than that it was sunny blue ...

Tuesday and the typhoon has passed, we've taken the Shinkansen to Odawara on Takami Bay and checked into the rather grand Hilton Odawara Resort, I imagine the hotel was once very grand but it is a little tired nowadays, they are renovating bits of it and it still had beautiful gardens and grounds. There's a wedding going on and there is a camera crew here making a TV Drama. ...

      ... I think I can, I think I can....

Topping it all off were the onsens. You see, all that geothermal activity means that hot springs are abundant here. All hotels have them. An onsen is a natural hot spring bath that is like a jacuzzi without the jets. The Japanese have a finely-honed set of rituals and social behaviours they observe in using an onsen. Extreme cleanliness before use is ...
