    ... The Japanese are absolutely lovely, cannot say enough about how welcoming and helpful they are.     ... track initially, but cool heads prevailed and we made the train with 5 minutes to spare. The ride is very smooth and fast with xxxKm covered in 1 hour 24 minutes. The trip was through the plains which are all heavily built out. The population covers only 30% of the land, with the rest being mountainous and un-developed.     It was a little over 20 km from the train station to get to Yudanaka and the snow monkeys and I took a route that ran up by the side of the mountain and through fields of fruit trees. The view of the valley below and the mountains rising sharply above it was gorgeous.
