... for a place to stay the previous night I got a reply from someone in Kagoshima who couldn’t put me up this night, but would be happy to put me up tomorrow. As I had to crash here anyway, I asked her if her offer still stood for tomorrow, to which she replied yes!

Having sorted out my sleeping arrangement for the next few days eased my mind some, allowing me to doze off without any trouble, although I’m guessing having a bit too much alcohol in my system didn’t hurt that ...

Just Japan now, off the beaten track, the best way to see it, with a guided and a small group of 11. Starting with Kyoto, an ancient capital off to beautiful towns offering lovely warm baths, even a fish spa! And the water just flows constantly through.

Hiroshima to Tsuwano

... relic of the past.

We spent about 2.5 hours at Tsuwano but honestly, we could have stayed here for much longer. It was a rush just trying to get to the Taikodani Inari Shrine, which is one of the five greatest Inari shrines. We had to go through several tunnels of tori gates before reaching the shrine, up the hill. It was well worth the effort.

... and back. This took about 2 hrs one way . Unfortunately there were some long tunnels and some windows were left meaning that the carriage filled up with smoke, we learnt very quickly to shut windows before entering the next tunnel

... Japanese immigration as tomorrow we will be in South Korea. It's a bit of a line to get through and there are many mumbling sand rumblings but it has to be done! Then we hand over our passports so the South Koreans can authorise us to enter their country for all of 8 hours tomorrow. After some late lunch it's time for a bit of R&R for me, Glenn went to the gym because he just can't sit still. We went to the show which was dancing and singing by the ship's company. ...
