    After nipping to Lawson for a quick breakfast of onigiri and pastry, we left the bags at our hotel and walked down to Matsuyama-jo.

    It was a beautiful sunny day and we even saw the small steam train on the tram rails again, with passengers waving as they passed!

After a few more minutes of going up the hilll, and further hills to climb, we decided it wasn't worth it and time was disappearing so we wizzed down the hill and crossed the next bridge to Omishima.     ... is a huge area of parkland. Once you get up to the top of the mountain, it is clear that this castle was built with defence a major factor in design. There are many gates and turrets. Thereused to be an 80ft long fence between one gate and turret, with points for dropping stones on the enemy and 16 gun turrets incorporated into the fence.
