... and then we became a group of 7. Some of the tour was in Japanese though, since they were visiting for the first time themselves and were having to learn about things so they could guide people there in the future. Since there were 6 of them though, they each explained things along the way, so I didn't feel left out.

... a pot with broth. It was really yummy! Then after dinner there was a karaoke machine so everyone did some karaoke! But most of it was in Japanese and only 5 songs were in English. But it was still really funny and fun! Also today we learnt that our futon beds and hard rice pillows are actually luxury for us in Japanese standards. This is because in Japan it is the harder the better. Some pillows are made of straw or even ceramic. How horrible would that pillow be? Bye ~ ...

... It was so much fun! Then we got to the top of the mountain and the castle was awaiting. It was humongous! There was this massive wall surrounding the lower part of it that was all made of stone. We entered the castle and took lots of pictures and then looked at all of the displays. There were real samurai swords, samurai armour, original map drawings and original traditional poems! ... then you could pick out the envelopes with your name on it. I received 5 envelopes and got ¥11, 000! Next we went out to lunch at a local restaurant, Hananomori Hotel, on top of a mountain with lots of people. This was to celebrate the new year too. ... we headed over to our 2nd cousins house to make omochi, a Japanese New Years specialty. First you put streamed rice into a concrete pot and then add some water to it. You then smash it with the wooden hammer-like thing while constantly adding water until it makes kind of a gluey paste. This takes maybe 20 minutes. Then you roll it into little balls and dip it in sauce and eat it! It was really yummy! ...
