    The breakfast buffet was Japanese and Western and offered a large variety of items. It was served in a large hall overlooking the garden. We took the hotel shuttle to the center of Kusatsu and were dropped off at the bus station. After a short walk we arrived at the square where the Yubatake or the hot water field is.     ... in there. Everything is geared to tiny Japanese people.... According to Japanese custom shoes needs to be removed when entering the room, room slippers are waiting for us. Beds are extremely hard, each bed has a small and very thin pillow, there is another pillow in the closet. We unpack and relax for a while, then take a walk around the hotel.     ... out to find the ‘Express’ bus to the park. To be clear, we had already traveled:

    • 15 minute shuttle ride from the hotel to Shinjuku station.
    • 20 minute train ride from Shinjuku station to Tokyo station.
    • 90 minute shinkansen ride from Tokyo station to Nagano station.

    Our room overlooks the train line and Nagano train station, so we get to see the trains come and go, even the Shinkansen.
    We take a walk around the area and find a supermarket to get some breakfast supplies.
