Later that night the family and I went to the fire festival with a Japanese school group which was great because it got us almost to the front. Left our hotel early for trip to Nozawa Onsen. It was a pretty morning as it was snowing in Kyoto. Caught the 9:25am express train ( not the bullet train - that would have taken us the long way but got us there 30 mins earlier at more expense, so we felt that it wasn't worth it. Rode in comfort. Tomorrow, we're heading to Tokyo after a morning snowboard, which I am very excited ...

... bought a fleece bandana and ski gloves as mine could not withstand the cold weather. Once again, I took a hot shower before going for a yummy dinner once again cooked by the owners. We started with a clam chowder soup, a potato croquette w/ pumpkins, roasted chicken w/ potatoes & rice, and finally a Christmas log cake for dessert. Now I'm just chilling in the lounge area with my family with a nice heated blanket. I'm very excited for another day of snowboarding ...

... short practice runs walking up the end of a beginner course. Near to the end of our time when I began to gain more confidence on my snowboard. I managed to sneak in 2 full runs of the 'edelweiss', which was a gentle beginner course that was slightly long. The sunset at around 4pm was absolutely breathtaking and by 5 when the ski lifts were closed, the sky was completely pitched black. Arriving back at the lodge to take a hot shower was so relaxing as I felt my ...
