... gardener is so fussy that all the gravel surrounding the access paths was raked in patterns. There was a young lady in a beautiful Kimino and a bride and groom in the gardens. It was almost deserted, a big change from the other cities/sights we have been to. Have to say that the Europe syndrome is starting to set it i.e. the equivalent of cathedral fatigue. In Japan this means - temples, shrines, pagodas, big Buddhas, old palaces and houses. ...

To finish ...

... br> very common to have salads with your breakfast which we are really enjoying.
Cai our waiter is from China and has been in Japan for two weeks. He speaks
perfect Japanese and a little bit of English. On day two he came prepared to
describe all that we were eating – he had taken the menu home and learn all the
courses in English. Such a thoughtful thing for him to do.

Needless to say, after all this ...

... play video games or sleep (like Willem). It is nice and relaxed ;) Beppu is known for its hot springs so the program will pretty much resemble the one of Dogo Onsen: bathing and relaxing. We arrived at the hotel too early to check in and decided to go for lunch. We then headed for the Beppu aquarium. When we arrived, there was a show with walruses doing all kind of tricks. It was quite sad to ...
