      Beppu is the third largest Geo-Thermal Hot Springs City in Japan and as we approach the port there are spouts of steam everywhere. It is located on the southern island of Kyushu and the written references to the hot springs go back to the 8th century. We haven't booked a tour today, we are going to wing it and see how we go.       I have to admit that going to Beppu was just an excuse to pamper myself. Beppu is know for its Onsen, or hot springs. There are almost 3,000 hot spring vents throughout the city. There are more onsen in Beppu than hotels. The hostel I stayed at only had one shower, on ...

      I went to Kumamoto Castle the next day. Hidaka was kind enough to bring up a map of the area to show me how to get to the Castle walls. He also looked up Internet cafes and hotspots near the Castle for me since I needed to post the Fukuoka blog before someone lynched me.

      ... we thanked the families and sang. When I thanked my host family, she started to cry again. Liana and Paloma's moms cried too.
      After Lianas family and mine went to a ramen place. It was really good and nice. Then, we J-Walked across a 6 lane street and no one died! It was so fun. It scary.
