... but enjoyed it once they got over their initial reservations. The ladies had the other side in the morning with a smaller, cool outdoor rock pool and a hot bubbling tub. We then all changed for our day's walking and breakfast. I love all of the savoury flavours available for a Japanese breakfast. Rice and pickle and some smoked fish plus some fresh fruit is so much more appealing to me than eggs and meat or pastry.
A quick jaunt in the minibus delivered us ...
... and onto our special dinner. The food was gorgeously stacked onto our individual trays infront of our floor chairs (you sit with your feet under your but, or cross legged but it is preferred that you start with the former).
Just as dinner started, the geisha entered the room and greeted us and began moving around the room pouring drinks and engaging their guests in conversation. While we ate they played music and danced a bit for us and intermittently ...
... night will be fully booked with 14 people staying. There are me and my friend, an Australian girl, a group from New Zealand and a few Japanese people. I have really enjoyed staying at these hostels and I will miss that when I get to Kyoto. I am sure Kyoto will be very nice as well, but since I will be staying with a friend there I will probably not meet as many new people there as I have done here in Nagano and Tokyo. Off to new adventures tomorrow! Mata ne!! ...
... the evening I started to get a bit more energy and after eating a bit I went to a 100 yen store. They had all sorts of stuff even though it was quite a small store. It was fun trying to figure out what all the things was. There were things I had never seen before. I did not buy anything ...
