... We then also had a quick look at Lake Chuzenji which was picturesque with some forested hills in the background. You could rent paddle boats in the shape of a swan to go around the lake if you so desired (we didn't). ... lovely Australian guy with great taste in music, and Scout. This morning we went for a swim in the river - it was surprisingly cold but wonderfully refreshing! And now we're saying a fond goodbye to Nikko, and heading off to Kyoto with a bottle full of fresh mountain water from Scout's 42foot-deep well (that he dug himself). This stop has really been a pleasantly surprising highlight of the trip thus far - hopefully we'll make it back some day.

While everyone around us was happily slurping noodles and we were waiting for our dumplings, I started listening to the music that was playing-It's the soundtrack to Frozen in Japanese. ... to rest. It didn't show that this path mostly consisted of the three sets of steep steps (150 in all) that seem to be mandatory in Japan if the location is worth going to. Once we recovered from the climb, we walked around the resting place of one of Japan's most important historical figures.
It was dark by the time we got back to Ueno, so we opted to get our evening meal at our favourite Chinese restaurant on the way back to the hotel. Yum yum. ...
