      Takayama to Kanazawa

... the cold rainy night to our hotel. Ryan relaxed in our room while I decided to test out the Onsen (Japanese baths) as we had been told our hotel's was quite good. It is strange to me how in Japan a culture that seems so polite and modest is totally cool with hanging out buck naked in a hot tub and sauna (men and women separated of course). It was a little strange at first but the rooftop pools were hot and it was a relaxing end to my day. Hanging out naked...not so ...

Woke up this morning and must have been snowing a fair bit last night. A solid dusting on everything, and still coming down fairly heavily (well by our standards anyway) Temperature predictions for the day are tops of 3, lows of -4. Glad we have plenty of warm clothes. Had lots of fun walking through the snow and knocking the trees to make the snow fall on each other. Though the numb toes and fingers were less fun. Walked down to the ...

Matsumoto-jō is Japan's oldest wooden castle. I had great fun exploring the inside, climbing the crazy steep staircases, deciding which room I would choose if I lived there and thinking how freezing it would have been in the winter!! Great views and token pictures with ninjas! Love a ...
