My longest blog in ths trip so far
... than double of some other places (700¥). I've never been to an onzen, can't compare if this is worthed. Anyhow, I enjoyed it very much. It was seperated by men and women. I was a bit uneasy walking around with "nothing"; seeing everyone is doing the same thing, who cares. There is an outdoor pool and different pools indoor. We have total spent 1 hr and 15 min for only the onzen, including shower, 'cus we have to catch a train. If I had more time, I could ...
Trains, Cable Cars and Pirate Ships!
... Owakudani - which is also known as Greater Boiling Valley. It’s the crater of a volcano and as soon as you got off the cable car you could smell the sulphurous fumes - disgusting (well that’s what I think anyway - David seems to like the smell). We walked a little way from the cable car station to a small shop which sold Black Eggs - they are hard boiled eggs which have been boiled in the sulphurous hot pools and seemed to be regarded as quite a delicacy by ...
Tokyo to Izu Oshima

Finally we reached the main town of Motomachi and went to Hama-no-yu onsen. This is an outside hot spa on a cliff overlooking the port. On clear days there are fine views of Mt Fuji, but today was cloudy. Still there was something tranquil about sitting in a hot pool, watching rain clouds gather over the volcano.
One thing that struck Joan on her first visit to Japan was the vending machines almost on ...
The Elusive Mt Fuji
... the mountains where our hotel is. The hotel was built in the late 1800’s and from the pictures on the walls it’s where royalty used to stay when they visited the area. Whilst its full of character its also very expensive - one cup of coffee in the coffee shop is £8.50 (we found a slightly cheaper alternative down the street)!
Unfortunately there seem to be no little local restaurants in the town so we have just been to ...
Japan moto trip (Izu Skyline)
Day 2: Izu Skyline
All I can say is, you MUST ride this, and any/everywhere on the Izu Peninsula at some point in your life. You must do this especially if you consider yourself a keen moto tourer. The scenery and corner carving cahoonery is OSM (panorama). OSM. Sometimes when you read moto magazines they talk about an ear to ear grin when riding a bike. I had one of these. A lot. It was OSM. I felt so ecstatic because here I was, a total newbie to ...
