... Super-Hokuto 3 train to Sapporo was due to leave at 8.13am, arriving at 11.47am. When our tickets were checked, the conductor said that the train would be arriving 6 minutes late. Owen had said that the number of trains going from Hakodate to Sapporo had halved in recent times. That may be the reason why there were so many people at the station. Then again, this is Japan. There is always a lot of people at train stations.

Today was our first full day in Sapporo. It started out with waking up at 2:30 a.m. Because I couldn't sleep. I stayed up for awhile then went back to sleep getting up around 7:00 a.m. The room I'm sharing with Kara is nice. It has two double beds a small sofa and a little refrigerator. ... Michael Brüning went with us. Congratulatory beers at the hotel with the Brüning clan were in order first though so we didn't get to the game until the 5th inning. That wasn't a problem though, since the game wasn't exactly exciting. It was fun to see the differences in the crowd, such as that the fans stand when on offense and constantly cheer until the inning is over. Still, at 1-0 final score (Fighters win!) it wasn't life changing. What a change over the last 48 ...

... warm week in Whitsunday, I was pretty cold. Japan has a large Gross National Product of 4.431 trillion PPP dollars and the shops I saw while walking around were amazing! Coincidently, I had arrived in Sapporo the same time that The Sapporo Snow Festival was held, every year. I headed off to Odori Park, the site of the festival and was absolutely stunned by the incredible ice and snow sculptures I saw. ...
