... location(heavy snow etc). The museum also showed the various ways people survived for example by harvesting the product of silk worms. Once I'd had a good look around the museum I headed to the station and caught the train to Kyoto. Arriving at 4.45 it was already getting dark so I sorted out the hostel and got some food from a very nice place that served me noodles and seafood on a hot plate on the table. I'm proud to say my chopstick skills are improving ...

... the East of the Miya river constituting 2 or 3 main streets that are filled with folk museums referencing how life was in the Edo period along with some tourist shops(where even I made some purchases). ... museum(free entry with castle ticket) which had some decent samurai armour, swords and guns. I then had a wander around Matsumoto which like Nagano moves at a much slower pace than Tokyo and for that reason has a much more relaxed feel.

I then headed back to my hostel in Nagano and had a rest ahead of visiting mt fuji tomorrow and the 4 hour train journey.

P.S sorry for all the castle pictures. I told you I liked ...

... Castle too early (opened at 8.30). Museum first and then the castle. Shame about the heavy rain! Climbed to the top of the castle-steps extremely steep. Good views of surrounding area. Photo with young man dressed as a ninja with a sword -missed the one in warrior costume. Further along the road, promoting a walking quiz thing-cute character photo opportunity. Steve ...
