... as once you get going it can get very hot. The spot he took us too had no one else around, hard to believe that in summer it is a golf course. It has about 3 m of snow coating it! We had some of the local trees and wildlife footprints pointed out along the way, mostly fox and rabbit but we saw weasel tracks as well. The actual walking is quite easy once you get the hang. I only fell over once and that was because I was trying to stand on one ...

... by our host at the train station and taken in his van down the windy snow lined roads to our guesthouse Mont Cervin. It has about 5 rooms and is decorated to look like someone's house, very cosy and most importantly warm. We were able to check in and settle before being taken into town for a meal. ... town without finding it. Oh well. We had a foot Onsen which was great to warm up our chilly toes. The water was very hot at the start of it as it was fresh out the pipe, we had to move down a bit where it was cooler. It was so nice to sit and warm up out feet before getting back on the train. Dinner was at another lovely local place just around the corner, Matsuya. We ordered their special pork cutlet with sauce on rice plus the ...

... us much. We decided to go for a little walk around the area. It looked as though there was a park and a few temples which turned out to be a cemetery and a few temples. It was quite nice walking through it with blobs of snow on the ground. Some of the plots were quite historical with information about the people there. After this we started our train journey with our faithful wheels bags. We had to get back to Ueno station to catch the Shinkansen to Nagano. This was only a ...
