    We board the Hokuriko Shinkansen to Nagano at Tokyo Station. The Hokuriko Line was launched March 14, 2015, and connects Tokyo to Kanazawa. After the train arrives in Tokyo from Kanazawa a cleaning crew boards the train to clean it before passengers are allowed to enter.     Today was the longest day (both in terms of miles covered and travel time) we had planned for our whole trip. We figured a long travel day earlier in the trip (while we still had energy) would be a little bit easier, while still making sure we fit in all the amazing things we wanted to see during this trip!

    27th
    Its a 4 hour bus ride from Tokyo to Nagano. We take the bus over the train, as the Shinkansen is not cheap, and i have never driven on the roads in Japan, so it will be a good experience. The bus is as punctual as the train and departs on time to the minute. The drive has plenty of beautiful country side and snow capped alps.     The hotel at the airport was, well an airport hotel so not much write home about… but Japan on the other hand…
