Really, this blog is about much more than just fish and Fuji. It's been a busy week: read on for stories of panda bears, stately forests, ancient temples, sumo wrestlers, lots of rain, confusing trains, and, yes, big fish and a big mountain.

Last Saturday was a day to visit the Ueno Zoo, not far from where we were staying in Tokyo. One of the main attractions for us here was the chance to see panda bears, something we haven’t had ...

We arrived at the top, 3,776 m height, in good time. we enjoyed a really expensive coffee and noddle soup at the one station hut near the crater.

There were also some small shops showcasing the local artists-in-residence products. We decided not to embark on learning any new skills, but I think it would have been fun. 8 km walk from walk Magemo to Tsumago.

The guide book and the tourist information centre told me that it would take 3hours to walk it.
However I only had 2, as I got up way to late to actually do this walk. What can I say i did it in 1 1/2 hours :)

Rock'n Roll!!!! found the coolest little coffee shop in Tsumago.

... the stone figure. Like this the god would bless you with his gift, in this case with a long life. This was the moment where I felt like I was in a japanese computer game and I accepted my quest: find the other 6 gods and take a picture of each of them. Accompanied by appropriate game music I began my search and interrupted it for a lunch that matched to such an important quest. We entered a restaurant that had many plastic dishes in the display window. Here I ...
