... cream on the train as well. I thought that the pumpkin ice cream sounded a bit too weird but from all accounts, it was delicious.

We then caught a one carriage local train to Furano. That took about 90 minutes. We had to open the windows as the carriage was again, much too hot. Took a few photos out of the window, including that of two deer. Not the sharpest image but proof that there is wild deer in the Japanese forest. We had our gyoza lunch on ...

... US during the 19th century

Carried on to Asahikawa, where we have had another beer festival at the station. The weather was now definitely turing into rain. This ruined our plan to climb Asahidate an active volcano and we planned for next day another excursion

Thanks to the lady at the tourist information we found an excellent restaurant close by the hotel. Original Japanese food and we enjoyed very much

... not down.. skis go down! once this was explained to us in broken english by the chairlift operator, (who resorted too walking his fingers down his arm and hen pointing at us) we tucked up our poles and shoes and wandered down the slopes much to the dismay of the junior ski team......pffffffffffffffft as they swooshed past and giggling waves as the chair lift took them back past us......i swear they were competing to see who could lap us the most amount of ...
