We had a western breakfast at the Japanese hotel. They should stick to Japanese food. We started the day visiting a traditional Japanese woodworking factory and had a demonstration of how different types of wood are glued together and then cut paper thin with what must be an extraordinarily sharp plane. He claims he can cut a hundred slices from a 4 inch piece. They can also make ultra delicate inlay pictures. He also make ...

... the resident hotel dog Haru, a black lab who is also a therapy dog. Sweet dog, feeling absolutely at home in the hotel lobby. This evening we have dinner in the Japanese restaurant, they reserved a nice table in a tatami room for us. Excellent food and service. The waitress has to take off her shoes every time she brings us something, then kneels down next to the person she is serving. I feel my poor knees and hip every time I see her kneel down ...

The Japanese have 3 springs a day when they come here. I guess it's their way of unwinding before the Tokyo ...
