... the toilet flushed. I don't want to pull the cord, because I am afraid I will set off a "help me, I've fallen and I can't get up" alarm. So, I do the only thing any rational person would do. It's starting to feel cold here. No sign of snow anytime soon, but there's a bit of a bite to the air - especially when you ride a motorcycle. I figured I'd get out and take some pictures before things get too ugly. These are from a hill area near my friend Jacques' house.

Matt and Julia got married... it rained, but was still a wonderful time. They had the most personalized wedding and it was really well done. I wish them both the best in their future together. Also, it was Canada Day, and the foreigners' bar served poutine... my first in almost 3 months! It wasn't as good as home, but it did the trick.

... of "vanity" or the loss of independence... I hate it when I can't achieve what I've set out to do on my own - especially something so simple. The language barrier is, in parts, made of very strong glass... You can't really see it, but it's there. If you're not careful you may end up walking right into it and making an ass of yourself. Rough week indeed.

... which I found out is the norm. My first class was full of tired middle-schoolers who wouldn't have anything to do with me. I guess it didn't really matter though, because if they were actually listening to me they would quickly find out I had no idea what I was talking about. The day wasn't completely horrible though - I had a student tell me I looked like "God" because of my beard. I took these events as signs of "interesting" days to come.
