... So... when you go #2, you don't want to make the bathroom all smelly...so you "rinse" first, then wipe... LOL!!!! Anyway, I wish I had a video of it. I'm sure you all can picture me in a tiny stall getting soaked head to toe in Korea...but if not... I found a video on YouTube demonstrating the funny toilets... Revel in my embarrassment.... ;)

... the first king in Korea. By this short genealogy heaven and earth were united, bringing divinity into the mortal world, mixing the blood of God with that of the Korean people. The valley at the beginning of May, as the summer green bathes everything in beauty and peace, feels very like a path from heaven to earth, and from earth to heaven. The veneration of the Gods who came to earth, the sculpting of wooden birds to fly back to the heavens ...
Cheonghakdong, Korea Rep. philiadAutumn was slow to arrive, Winter was already advancing fast by the time the hills began to lose their green coats. The daily pig truck lurched squealing down the road, and then ceased to come, and the sharp smell of fuel fires hung permanently in the air. Every morning thick clouds of fog descended on the penthouse, and the stripped rice fields were covered in frost. It became very very difficult to leave bed. When Autumn came it came so slowly that it seemed to come ...
Busan, Korea Rep. zelfike... the toilet flushed. I don't want to pull the cord, because I am afraid I will set off a "help me, I've fallen and I can't get up" alarm. So, I do the only thing any rational person would do. I use every ounce of strength in my body to pull the steel door closed, myself. It moved around an inch a minute. And I thought I had bathroom issues before. I hope this isn't a precursor to Korea and China. The Shinkensen drops you off at the Shin ...
Busan, Korea Rep. philnshellIt's starting to feel cold here. No sign of snow anytime soon, but there's a bit of a bite to the air - especially when you ride a motorcycle. I figured I'd get out and take some pictures before things get too ugly. These are from a hill area near my friend Jacques' house.
Changwon, Korea Rep. fortuneandgloryMatt and Julia got married... it rained, but was still a wonderful time. They had the most personalized wedding and it was really well done. I wish them both the best in their future together. Also, it was Canada Day, and the foreigners' bar served poutine... my first in almost 3 months! It wasn't as good as home, but it did the trick.
Changwon, Korea Rep. fortuneandglory... of "vanity" or the loss of independence... I hate it when I can't achieve what I've set out to do on my own - especially something so simple. The language barrier is, in parts, made of very strong glass... You can't really see it, but it's there. If you're not careful you may end up walking right into it and making an ass of yourself. Rough week indeed.
Changwon, Korea Rep. fortuneandglory... a teenie tantrum. Oh Canada, how much do I love thee? I could spend my free hours counting down the endless ways... But whenever I feel down, or like every Korean man is insane and vile, I come home and I relish in the sight you see in this entry. I am learning that my home is not where the maple syrup and visible animal population is, home is where Matt is. Home is where my ...

I guess it didn't really matter though, because if they were actually listening to me they would quickly find out I had no idea what I was talking about. The day wasn't completely horrible though - I had a student tell me I looked like "God" because of my beard. I took these events as signs of "interesting" days to come.
