... Think deep powdery snow, frozen trees and the calm silence that only comes with copious snow (I presume snow acts as a bit of a muting device). The majority of the traverse was flat, which is very difficult for boarders to maintain their momentum, and so Pat and Micko had to keep unclipping their bindings and trying to skate, but then finding their legs sinking into the powder up to their knees or even higher! ... on work and finding my feet :)

A friend asked me what to expect upon arrival here soon... I explained about how surprisingly dated it was here - no cell phones for foreigners, a cash culture and toilets that violate you!

... people due Monday apparently so I'm looking forward to that.

Also had my first taste of Niseko snow fall early in the week. It's unreal. Pure snow blizzard and it strangely even feels different to the snow anywhere else.

Due to start work on Tuesday, really cannot wait but so nervous being the "new kid". Yiokes!

Lots to learn but I have a good head start until the season commences :)
