Last day but the best day

... a couple birthdays. Happy birthday Pedro and Justin!!

Thank Mrs. Chu for organising a terrific trip! We wish we could stay longer its been such a great trip and learning to ski and snowboard has been so much fun. Next year we want to stay one more day pleasssse!!!!

... had to part ways with my wonderful ski peeps, and today it was back to Tokyo. Tonight I am staying in a capsule hotel, which is a very strange experience so far, but I will elaborate more on that tomorrow night.

A huge thank you and hug and kiss to Lys, Pat, Tilly, Abhi, Mel, Tash, Dyl, Micko and everyone else for helping to make the ski holiday very memorable and heaps of fun! I will miss you all.

... in an off-limits avalanche zone. The ski patrol guys told us that skiers and boarders compact the snow and reduce the risk of avalanche, and this is all in an effort to prevent another one. There was an avalanche in the zone we skied in a few years ago with several fatalities. To be honest, skiing the avalanche zone wasn't terribly different from skiing the rest of the backcountry, so hopefully that worries you less Mum and Dad!  I may have also had a run-in with a tree ...

So this week primarily has consisted around new Japanese experiences -

  • remembering to take ones shows off when entering anywhere
  • do not trust the pictures on Japanese menus. especially ones that appear to consist of chopped up pieces of other menus stuck to a piece of laminate. it will always contain beef.
  • don't walk out of a shop carrying shopping without a carrier ...
