... of us. We then kept trying to go around him in deep powder (which slows you down and makes you lose momentum), and every time we did we would grind to a stop and Micko would pass us again. Pat was shouting at him to move over, but he didn't seem to hear. Pat and Micko are a bit like an old married couple, and Micko has obviously learned to tune Pat out completely. It was very funny and frustrating at the same time.

... in an off-limits avalanche zone. The ski patrol guys told us that skiers and boarders compact the snow and reduce the risk of avalanche, and this is all in an effort to prevent another one. There was an avalanche in the zone we skied in a few years ago with several fatalities. To be honest, skiing the avalanche zone wasn't terribly different from skiing the rest of the backcountry, so hopefully that worries you less Mum and Dad!  I may have also had a run-in with a tree ...

Started my job (which shall remain nameless to the unknown) which I LOVE! It's definitely a new challenge, and lots to learn but I am super excited and finally feel like I'm achieving that all elusive career ladder...

So this week primarily has consisted around new Japanese experiences -

  • remembering to take ones shows off when entering anywhere
  • do not trust the pictures on Japanese menus. especially ones that appear to consist of chopped up pieces of other menus stuck to a piece of laminate. it will always contain beef.
  • don't walk out of a shop carrying shopping without a carrier ...

I woke up to a beautiful sunny day, I rushed to get ready because I couldn't wait to get out there. Today I decided to the Hanazono area to ride the terrain park because it was such a perfect clear day.
